About
Carina Tien, a one-of-a-kind Voice and Presentation Skills Coach, has been in performing arts since 1987. Fluent in both Mandarin and English, she has maintained a private practice, teaching voice and presentation skills since 1992 and has established The Voice Room in 2003.
Carina established her second coaching company, Embrace Yourself, in 2011, where she provides Life Purpose Coaching services for women around the world.
She is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the Singapore Raffles Music College (SRMC) teaching Pop Vocals Performance, as well as a Registered Instructor with the Ministry of Education Singapore (MOE), specializing in Enrichment Life Skills and Communication Skills Training.
The Portfolio
Not only Carina is an expert in voice training, she is also a Certified Corporate Trainer specializes in communication skills training. Carina has conducted numerous workshops for both MNCs and SMEs in the past years and had been interviewed in the media, such as Singapore’s News Radio 93.8 Live and Pop Radio Station 933.
Carina also contributes articles to the Straits Times Career Guide. She was also one of the nominees for The Spirit of Enterprise Award 2014.
A powerful voice coach, Carina takes a keen interest in research and development of workshops, keeping in mind participants’ various organizational behaviours, communication skills and work habits. Her conviction with regard to potential in every human being to excel beyond his imagination is very strong and forms the basis of her training.
The key to success is the belief in ourselves. She evokes a positive self-response within individuals so that they start believing in their own capabilities. It gives her immense pleasure to witness her audience’s paradigm shift during and after the workshops.
Her mission in life is to assist individuals to flourish and progress even during extreme stress and adverse circumstances, and to be a source of positivity and inspiration for the community and colleagues around them.
The Competency
Carina received her Degree in Business and Human Resource Management in the UK. She also has a Diploma in Communication Studies and in Image Consulting, awarded by Institute of Advertising Singapore and Institute of Image Consulting, UK, respectively.
A certified teacher/trainer, Carina also holds a Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), a Professional Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy by NCFE, UK, a Certificate in Practical Counselling by School of Counselling Singapore, as well as an Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) accredited by the Workforce Development Agency, Singapore.
She has recently completed a Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, awarded by the London College of Clinical Hypnosis Asia (LCCH Asia).
Nurturing Future Generations
Carina has chosen to extend her commitment to medical education by bequeathing her mortal remains to the Department of Anatomy at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS.
Through this act, she continues to contribute to the education and training of future medical professionals, ultimately benefiting thousands of patients across Singapore.
